About The Server
My web server is a hyper-v virtual server hosted personally by myself. It is a CentOS 6.2 box with 1.5GB dedicated RAM. I’m running PHP/MySQL backend and this site is a WordPress installation (obviously). I also use Drupal as a content management system for other projects.
The server hosting the web server is a modest Core i3, 8GB RAM server with Windows Server 2008 R2. I’ve got it running as a DNS, Exchange, Hyper-V and Active Directory server. Exchange is protected with Forefront protection.
About This Site
This site is an outlet for my thoughts and opinions. None of the opinions expressed in this blog are endorsed or affiliated with anybody but myself. These thoughts do not reflect the beliefs of my family, of my friends, of my employer, my church, my political party, or anybody else. All thoughts and opinions are expressly mine.
Why the ads?!
I put ads on the site because I don’t make any other money off of it. I do accept donations for my Social Media Widget, but they nowhere near cover the costs to keep a fully functioning server going. I have to pay for bandwidth overages (thanks AT&T Uverse), electricity, and upgrade parts. I place so few ads that I haven’t even collected a single check from Google for my ads. In fact, in the two years (with intermittent down-time) I’ve used Google Adsense, I’ve accrued a grand total of $21.90 in ad revenue (as of March 2012). Perhaps if this site gets popular enough, it’ll start helping me pay the bills. If you’re not a fan of ads, you can always install Adblock Plus in your browser:
